Welcome to Orbita Spanish School and our community!

Thank you for choosing San Pedro La Laguna as part of your vacation. Under the direction of René López, Orbita works to procure donations and assist with fundraising for families of extremly poverty. The pueblo we sponsor is for the people of Aldea Taltimiche, Comitancillo, San Marcos

100% of your $10 registration fee to Orbita is donated to the ¨Sembrando Esperanza ¨ Project.

Why this Project?

It is recurrent that people with extreme poverty living in remote areas do not receive support because they are isolated. Therefore, they do not have opportunities for work, education or economic development.

This is why Orbita Spanish School presents this project to you. We would like to give you an opportunity to support these people who have so little.

For several days we have done studies to find a means of subsistence for these families. We have seen that in many of these families, faith and hope have died. However, we can also see that in many of these families, there is a will and a desire to develop new skills for subsistence.

For this reason, we are in need of logistical support and accompaniment for these people of the village Taltimiche. It is our hope that they can develop an economically productive endeavor, that can generate sources of employment. With these opportunites, they will be able to live a dignified life, like all people desire. Keep in mind, there are between 2 and 6 children in each family.

We are looking to initiate a project of opportunities for those people who have the will to move forward using their own efforts. All the while, we are supporting them with ideas plus an economic resource to start a livelihood.

Work is scarce. One member of the family sometimes works only 3 days a week and sometimes not at all. Income of these families range from Q25 to Q50 quetzales per day ($ 3.50 – $ 6.50 USD). Miraculously, they can survive, however life is full of great difficulties.

The target population for this first project consists of 12 families (60 people) with characteristics described above.

What is the Objective of this Project?

The general objective of this Project is to help establish small farms or businesses in the village Tattimiche.

What is the cost of this Project per family?

The cost to establish each business would be between Q10,000 to Q15,000 ($ 1,392 to $ 2,000 USD).
